WCA Peninsula Member Artists Exhibition in Perpetuity
Twin Pines Art Center, Belmont, CA Nov 1-29 2021
This represents the inaugural exhibition of Cohesion at Twin Pines Art Center in Belmont, California during the month of November 2021. Cohesion is a member exhibition of the California Peninsula Chapter of Women’s Caucus for Art. Our artists were challenged to create original artworks on the same sized cradled wood panel. Many paintings are exhibited, but watercolorists, photographers, and sculptors also got creative to make the limitations of the panels work for them. Some artists experimented with what was, to them, a new larger format, and others experienced painting on wood for the first time.
In the gallery, the repetition of the 27 same-sized artworks installed mere inches apart creates a rhythmic pattern that reads as one continuous line, morphing as it wraps the room in creativity. Each separate, individual artwork also stands on its own, as every artist has selected unique subject matter and applied her own creative vision. The result is a powerful representation of the unified whole along with the strength of the individual, an apt metaphor for our journey together as artists.
The exhibition is available to travel and will organically change over time.
